So……why do we have a vacation this week? Well, it’s Thanksgiving!!! A lot of people love thanksgiving, because of the reason why we celebrate it. It is to be thankful for everything that we have! There are a lot of myths about this holiday though, such as: the pilgrims held the first Thanksgiving, the Pilgrims ate turkey, and they dressed in black. These are all false accusations!!!! The first Thanksgiving was held in Texas in San Elizario, during the year of 1598. We do not know if the pilgrims actually ate turkey or not, but we do know that they ate turkey quite often. The only thing that we do know that they had at their “Thanksgiving Feast,” was deer. Also, the pilgrims did not wear black, nor those funny hats, buckles and shoes that everyone describes them as wearing.
Now that you know a little bit more about Thanksgiving, I hope you and your family have a wonderful one!!!!
Happy holidays!!!!!!!

I am going to write all of the similarities and contrasts of the 19th century and the 21st century by discussing homework.
Back in the 19th century, children had to carry all of their books to school, and they barely recieved any homework because of the loads of housework they have to do at home. (They did all their work during school.) Children only read books at home if their parents could afford them, otherwise they would only be able to read books at school. Students had oral stand-up quizzes. Also, children read religious books during school, and the first book that was ever read in school was the bible. Most of the time was dedicated to reading, memorizing, and reciting passages from it.
In the 21st century, kids have just about everything to make for a successful future. We read a variety of different books, and all of us have books that we can read at home, because most parents have good paying jobs, and recieve a lot more money then the people who lived in the 19th century had. We do not have to carry our books to school. We have backpacks. Everybody has a backpack unless they want to break their backs by holding those heavy books all day long!! Our tests and quizzes are on paper, not oral. Also, children in the 21st century have loadfuls of homework because children do not have as much chores and the children had from the 21st century!!!!
As you can see, there are a lot of differences from the 19th century, and the 21st century!!!!

I chose the topic, “International Year of the Reef,” because this is a world-wide campaign to help save and protect our coral reefs from danger.
These are two websites that will help you understand the importance of the existence of coral reefs.
-This website is is all about the existence of coral reefs and the importance of them. It also describes what this organization does to save and protect coral reefs. It also describes what people can do to help save and protect these bright and colorful creatures. It also has a children’s link where kids can visit. It is more colorful for them, so it will be more interesting.
-This website is all about facts of coral reefs and how we should protect them. There is a fun zone for kids to make the site more interesting for the, while still managing to live a lot about these beautiful structures. There are also links on the site, such as learning about reefs, news and reviews, and supporting reefs. There are aso films that you can watch.
Here are a couple of pictures of coral reefs and the life that lies within them:

I think the website “Ollie Saves the Planet,” is a great website, especially for kids. It is kid friendly, the whole website has friendly kid faces shown, and the website is bright and colorful. The website also has a lot of links that children can press and explore. There are links such as: energy, water, reducing, sustainability, waste, air, projects, news, and so much more!!!! The links are full of so much information that someone who is interested in recycling, more ways to recycle, and every little aspect of recycling, will find out so much more than what they expected to find on any website. This website only displays accurate information, so you do not have to worry about reading false information. I would definitely reccomend people use this website for projects on recycling, or just visit this site if you are curious and want to know more about it. Visit this AMAZING website!!!!

The students of Connecticut do not have school on Tuesday. This is because it is a national holiday. We celebrate this holiday because on May 13th, 1938, November 11, 1918, was officially named as the celebration for the ending of World War 1. This is why the event is taken so seriously and so importantly. A traditional activity, or act on Veterans Day, is wearing the paper poppy flower on your shirt. A veterans’ monument is located in Wallingford, Ct., at Dutton Park. This monument symbolizes the town’s honor and respect for all of the men that died in the Cival War from Wallingford.
”This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave. ” ~Elmer Davis

I left a comment on Kade’s, or “candy cane’s” blog post. It was about what she takes pride in. I like how she takes pride in the accomplishments and goals she sets before herself, and finishes them. I also like how she is writing about the positive things in her life.

Christmas is the time of year that everybody gets excited about!! But what is the history?????
The history of Christmas is about the birth of Christ. Catholics celebrate this on Christmas because this was the day he was born, and the day the world changed. Jesus was the new messiah, and he spread the word about catholisism, and he died on the cross for us. A lot of people like Christmas because you can ask for gifts, and recieve them free!!!!! Little kids like Christmas because they love Santa Claus and the magic elves, reindeer, and North Pole. Now, everybody knows the true meaning of Christmas.
